We will ask a few basic questions and confirm whether your location is within our current mobile service area.
2. Schedule Your Mobile Appointment
We will arrange an available appointment time and explain what to expect.
If you are scheduling for a family member, we may request that the patient, caregiver or authorized representative be available to provide the necessary information and consent.
3. Meet With a Hearing Care Provider
A hearing care provider from Empathy Hearing Aid Center will travel to the scheduled location with the equipment needed for the planned service.
The appointment may take place in a private residence, apartment or appropriate room within a senior living community.
4. Complete the Hearing Evaluation*
When a hearing evaluation* is needed, the provider will review the patient’s hearing concerns, relevant history and everyday communication difficulties before completing the appropriate evaluation.
The results will be explained in clear language, and the patient will have an opportunity to ask questions.
5. Discuss Hearing Aid Options
If the hearing evaluation* indicates that amplification may be appropriate, we will discuss hearing aid options based on the patient’s hearing needs, lifestyle, communication goals, preferences and budget.
There is no single hearing aid that is best for every person. The goal is to identify an appropriate solution for the individual patient.
6. Fit and Verify the Hearing Aids
When hearing aids are selected, a fitting appointment will be scheduled. The hearing aids will be programmed according to the patient’s hearing needs.
When appropriate, real-ear measurement is used to verify how the hearing aids are performing in the patient’s ears.
The patient and participating family members or caregivers will also receive instructions on insertion, removal, charging or battery replacement, cleaning and daily use.
7. Receive Follow-Up Care
Hearing aids often require follow-up adjustments as the patient becomes accustomed to amplified sound and begins using the devices in different environments.
Because we are mobile, follow-up care can take place in the patient’s everyday listening environment. This allows the provider to discuss specific communication challenges and make appropriate adjustments.
Do you have a hearing aid office in Montclair?
No. Empathy Hearing Aid Center is a 100 percent mobile hearing care practice.
We do not represent ourselves as having a physical office or storefront in Montclair. We travel to homes, apartments and senior living communities by appointment.
Can you perform a hearing evaluation* in my home?
Yes. We can perform hearing evaluations* in an appropriate home environment when the location allows the evaluation to be completed properly.

What is real-ear measurement?
Real-ear measurement is a verification procedure used during the hearing aid fitting process. A small, soft probe microphone is carefully positioned in the ear canal so the provider can measure how the hearing aid is delivering sound near the eardrum.
Because every person’s ear canal is different, manufacturer settings alone may not show exactly how a hearing aid is performing in an individual ear.
Real-ear measurement allows the provider to compare the measured hearing aid output with appropriate fitting targets and make more precise programming adjustments.
The procedure does not replace the patient’s feedback. Verification results, listening comfort and the patient’s real-world communication needs are all considered when adjusting the hearing aids.
Can you adjust hearing aids purchased somewhere else?
In many cases, yes. Our ability to service or program a hearing aid depends on its manufacturer, model, age, condition and whether we have access to the necessary programming equipment and software.

Yes. We provide mobile hearing aid services in assisted living, memory care, independent living and other senior living communities when an appropriate appointment can be arranged.
