Do you have a hearing aid office in Upland?
No. Empathy Hearing Aid Center is a 100 percent mobile hearing care practice. We do not represent ourselves as having a physical storefront in Upland. We travel to homes, apartments and senior living communities by appointment.
Can you perform a hearing evaluation at my home?
Yes. We can perform hearing evaluations* in an appropriate home environment when the location allows the evaluation to be completed properly.
The provider will determine whether the available environment is suitable for the planned service.
What is real-ear measurement?
Real-ear measurement is a verification procedure used during the hearing aid fitting process. A small, soft probe microphone is carefully positioned in the ear canal so the provider can measure how the hearing aid is delivering sound near the eardrum.
Because every person’s ear canal is different, manufacturer settings alone may not show exactly how the hearing aid is performing in an individual ear. Real-ear measurement allows the provider to compare the measured hearing aid output with appropriate fitting targets and make more precise programming adjustments.
The procedure does not replace the patient’s feedback. Verification results, listening comfort and the patient’s real-world communication needs are all considered when adjusting the hearing aids.
Can you adjust hearing aids purchased somewhere else?
In many cases, yes. Our ability to service or program a hearing aid depends on its manufacturer, model, age, condition and whether we have access to the necessary programming equipment and software.
Call (951) 268-0097 with the hearing aid brand and model so we can determine whether we may be able to help.
Do you serve North Upland and Historic Downtown Upland?
Yes. We provide scheduled mobile hearing care throughout North Upland, Historic Downtown Upland and surrounding Upland neighborhoods.
Appointment availability may depend on the location and the type of service required.
Can you provide an appointment in a gated community or apartment?
Yes. Please provide any necessary gate instructions, parking information or building-access requirements when scheduling the appointment.
The patient is responsible for obtaining any required permission from the property or community.
Can a family member or caregiver attend?
Yes. Family members and caregivers are welcome to participate with the patient’s permission. Their involvement can be especially helpful when discussing communication concerns, learning how to operate the hearing aids and planning follow-up care.
Do you visit assisted living and memory care communities?
Yes. We provide mobile hearing aid services in assisted living, memory care, independent living and other senior living communities when an appropriate appointment can be arranged.
Services are subject to the community’s access requirements and the patient’s authorization or consent requirements.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance coverage and hearing aid benefits vary by plan. Contact our office with your insurance information so we can explain what information may be needed and whether your plan can be used for the requested service.
Coverage should be confirmed before relying on any hearing aid benefit.
